Mysterious SuicideGirls Browser Call

I’m browsing a couple of my usual tech sites at the moment, nothing new there. The throbber in the top right continued to spin after the pages had finished loading so I glanced at the browser’s status bar for an idea of which server was hanging. If any. It likes to do that from time to time “just because”.

Turns out that the browser was trying to load something from SuicideGirls.com. Now mind you, this isn’t a huge deal to me because I actually rather like the look of some of the ladies there, but I haven’t loaded that site in months. So why was it making a call to their site at all? Hmm..

After a quick CTRL-F to find the word “Suicide” on any of the three pages turned up nothing I switched to the page source. Repeating the search in the source of each page also turned up nothing. If someone on Digg, for example, was using an avatar hosted on SG then it should’ve found that line in the HTML.

As you’ll see in the screen shot I run both NoScript and AdBlock (sans filterset.g). So I suppose that it’s possible that either Digg or Slashdot has ads for SG and my browser simply isn’t displaying them. However, it doesn’t make sense (to me) that it would make a call to their server and then block the ad.

So, out of curiosity more than anything else, do either of these sites have ads for SuicideGirls? Or, was the call being made in such a way that a search on the page and in the source wouldn’t turn up the reference?

Not that I’m expecting an answer, of course, but such is the nature of blogging I suppose. :p :)

…and, yes, I had done a search for Diane Mizota on Google. You would think that it was an image search, but you would be wr… er, okay, half-right. :P After watching InDigital and seeing the old Filter podcast feed in iTunes I was curious if she’d got another gig. Who wouldn’t click over to pics of such a cutie? I mean, duh! lol ^_^/”
