Tea, Tea, and More Tea
This summer is my target to get into good physical (and, hopefully, mental) condition. As a part of doing so I have completely removed any type of soda from my diet and have replaced it with teas.
That’s no small move for me. I had never come across a tea that I actually liked without smothering it in honey. They smelled funny, they tasted funny, and I avoided them. Now? I can just see their little leaves quivering with herbal giggles. Over the last week or so I have been drinking several glasses per day.
Basically, any time that I would get some water I instead have fixed a cup of tea.
Why? This started, of course, with deciding to get rid of soda. I needed the caffiene fix though and coffee just doesn’t settle well with me. It gives me the jitters. So I decided to try out a cup of tea and went with a green tea.
I found myself pleasently surprised, though not exactly from the taste. By the time that the cup was mostly finished I found that I was focusing better in what I was doing. My thoughts were clearer, I was more awake; it was almost like a natural ADD remedy.
So I kept going back to that tea, despite a taste that I still found to be strange. Though I’ve received the benefit of a clearer head to varying degrees I do have to say that the green tea has had a (small) effect on my ability to focus.
The health benefits from the teas certainly aren’t anything to shy away from, either, but I won’t get into that here as I’m sure we’re all aware that teas are supposed to be pretty healthy for us.
From the green tea I have branched out to black, red, and white tea. My favorite so far is the red tea, which I’m informed isn’t an actual tea. Go figure.
The white pear flavored tea comes in a quick second and I hear that pineapple white tea is supposed to be delicious. Well, that will have to wait. Cans of that type of white tea run close to $20!
I’ve tried some that I’m not particularly fond of, too. I think that it was called an Irish breakfast tea. This was a black tea, if I remember correctly, and it nearly knocked me on my arse. Strong? Oh yeah. It could be a bouncer at a club. I won’t be touching that stuff again.
To return to the white teas for a momen, they smell sooo nice. The pear white tea could be used as a potpourri, and it smells thrice as good as it tastes.
Anyhow, I’m rambling enough here I think. It’s beyond my bed time. Good night!
