EQ2 & WoW – Massive Similarities
A quick list of the incredible similarities between EverQuest 2 and World of Warcraft.
- Griffins for flying transportation (the animation of the EQ2 griffin is horribly stiff)
- Two opposing, seperated factions (EQ2 allows interaction & defection)
- Elite status mobs (EQ2 calls these “heoric”, and has multiple levels of “heroic”)
- PvP battleground areas, including Capture The Flag (in EQ2 they’re called Arenas, and were added with the Desert of Flames expansion)
- Hearthstoning / recalling to bind point once per half hour (EQ2’s version is extremely limited, taking you back only to either Qeynos or Freeport)
- In-game email system that that allows you to send text, coin and/or an item (EQ2’s mailboxes are much more difficult to find)
- Very little to no original gameplay after your first or second character
- minor: Searchable database of player sold items (auction house in WoW is significantly more user friendly)
- minor(?): Most items are bound to the character upon equipping (EQ2’s “soulbinding” is optional; can wear to check appearance but receive no benefit from the item)
This list may grow is growing as more striking similarities come to mind are experienced.
Since logging back in (for free, YaY!) with HeWhoWishesToRemainAnonymous I have had moments of feeling like I’m still playing World of Warcraft, only with a massive UI mod.
Fitness Journal – Neglected
My fitness routine has been neglected for about a week now, give or a take a couple of days. This is due mostly to the incredible chill that we’ve been experiencing lately. As of right now it’s 23 degress F. out there. That’s around -5 C.
This morning it hit 11 degrees F. (-8 to -11 or so degrees C., I’m not sure).
I can’t see going outside and working out in this mess. The warmest that it’s been the past several days is in the 40’s. It looks like I’ll have to take advtage of that if it reaches that temp today, but the last thing that I want to do is to get sick. Sucking in the cold air is a good way to do that.
So I’ve been sitting around and being a lazy little fella, basically. It’s even been uncomfortably cold in my room, and my bedroom is typically the warmest room in the house.
I have began doing simple things inside. Push ups, sit ups, and today I done squats. They’re not replacement for jumping rope, but they’re certainly better than nothing.
